AC Milan are in pole position to land Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis despite reports of interest from a number of other top clubs.
It is seemingly no mystery that the Rossoneri are in the market for a long-term partner to Ismael Bennacer, and Florentino Luis has been persistently linked with a move to the San Siro since the winter transfer window.
It was reported earlier on Friday by La Gazzetta dello Sport that Milan are in talks over a deal for the 20-year-old, who has a €120m release clause but could be available for €40m.
However, a report from ESPN claimed that Manchester United, Leeds United, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis are all also keen, while his agent confirmed many clubs want his client.
According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, there have been new contacts between Milan and Benfica and there is a general agreement on the formula – a two-year loan with an obligation to buy based on achieving certain objectives.
However, there is not yet an agreement on the figures as the Lusitanians value the Portugal U21 international at €40million.
Milan are in pole position and want to formalise everything at the end of the season, but Real Betis are not giving up and are pressing hard, while Leverkusen have also enquired.
There is no shortage of offers, and Benfica want to get as much as possible from his sale.
