A 50,000-year-old lake in India just turned pink and experts don't know exactly why

(CNN) What caused the lake to turn pink? That was the question on people's minds across India after Lonar Lake in the state of Maharashtra suddenly changed hues in recent days. Experts believe that the change is likely due to either increased salinity in the water, the presence of algae or a combination of both --  like parts of Utah's Great Salt Lake  or  Lake Hillier in Australia . Gajanan Kharat, a local geologist, said in a video posted to  Maharashtra Tourism's Twitter feed , that this has happened before, but was not as prominent. "It's looking particularly red this year because this year the water's salinity has increased," he said. "The amount of water in the lake has reduced and the lake has become shallower, so the salinity has gone up and caused some internal changes." Kharat said that researchers are also investigating if the presence of red algae caused the color change. Samples are being sent to several labs, he said, and "once...

Jim Keller Resigns From Itel

Intel has just published a news release on its website stating that Jim Keller has resigned from the company, effective immediately, due to personal reasons. Jim Keller was hired by Intel two years ago to the role as Senior Vice President of Intel’s Silicon Engineering Group, after a string of successes at Tesla, AMD, Apple, AMD (again), and PA Semiconductor. As far as we understand, Jim’s goal inside Intel was to streamline a lot of the product development process on the silicon side, as well as providing strategic platforms though which future products can be developed and optimized to market. We also believe that Jim Keller has had a hand in looking at Intel’s manufacturing processes, as well as a number of future products. Intel’s  press release today  states that Jim Keller is leaving the position on June 11th due to personal reasons. However, he will remain with the company as a consultant for six months in order to assist with the transition. As a result of Jim’s departure, Inte...

I'm not thinking anything of it, because I'm a law-abiding citizen," Pharoah explained in his Instagram video, sharing security footage of the encounter. Another innovative company has given up on revolutionizing mobile photography

Light, the company behind  the Nokia 9’s unique array of five rear cameras , has given up on its unconventional effort to revolutionize the cameras in our pockets. In  a statement to  Android Authority , Light said it’s “no longer operating in the smartphone industry.” Light set out to overcome the limitations of small camera sensors — like those in our phones — by cramming a ton of cameras (each with different focal lengths) onto one device and combining the data from all those modules. Its proof of concept for this was the $2,000 L16 camera.  In a review , my colleague Sean O’Kane credited the L16 as being an engineering marvel and said it indeed delivered better image quality than most mobile devices. But it still lagged well behind mirrorless cameras and DSLRs, and clearly wasn’t cut out for all shooting scenarios. After that, Light partnered with Nokia on the Nokia 9 and went so far as to build a custom chip that helped the phone’s Snapdragon processor successfully  capture data f...

New Melania Trump book says she renegotiated her prenuptial agreement

(CNN) Part of the reason  first lady Melania Trump  delayed her move from New York City to the White House in 2017 was because she was renegotiating her prenuptial agreement with President Donald Trump, according to a book out next week  by a Washington Post reporter . Author Mary Jordan cites sources close to Trump as saying her intent in doing so was to "amend her financial agreement with Trump -- what Melania referred to as 'taking care of Barron.' " The book, titled, "The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump," is based on more than a hundred interviews,  according to the Post . According to the Post , the book said the first lady needed time to cool off after the President's alleged sexual indiscretions and Jordan writes that three people close to Trump say that this new prenuptial agreement ensured that Barron would not be shut out of the family business.
